How to do it

  1. Set up in a push-up position with your hands well outside shoulder width.
  2. Shift your weight toward one hand as you bend that elbow and keep the other arm straight.
  3. Lower until your chest is just above the floor on the working side.
  4. Press back to the middle under control and repeat toward the other hand.

Coaching cues

  • Let the straight arm rotate so the palm turns outward, which keeps that shoulder comfortable.
  • Bring your hands closer together to share the load between arms.
