How to do it

  1. Set a light bar across your upper back as you would for a squat and step out with your feet hip width.
  2. Soften your knees, brace your core hard and set your back flat.
  3. Push your hips back and tip your torso forward until it is about 45 degrees from upright.
  4. Squeeze your glutes to drive your hips forward and return to standing.

Coaching cues

  • Go much lighter than your squat, the long lever makes this feel heavy fast.
  • Stop tipping forward the moment your back position changes.
