Equipment
Cable machine
How to do it
- Attach a rope to a high pulley and kneel facing the machine, holding the rope beside your head.
- Sit back slightly so the cable pulls your torso upright and your hips stay still.
- Crunch down by curling your ribs toward your hips, keeping your arms fixed beside your head.
- Return under control to upright without letting the weight stack touch down.
Coaching cues
- Move at the spine, not the hips, your hips should stay in the same place all set.
- Use a weight that lets you curl smoothly instead of yanking with your arms.
