How to do it

  1. Hang from a bar with an underhand grip about shoulder width and your arms straight.
  2. Set your shoulder blades down and back before you bend your elbows.
  3. Pull your chest toward the bar until your chin clears it.
  4. Lower under control all the way back to straight arms.

Coaching cues

  • Keep your ribs down so you do not swing your hips to get up.
  • Pause for a moment at the top to build control at the hardest point.
