How to do it

  1. Stand tall with your feet hip width and your hands at your chest.
  2. Step one foot diagonally back and across behind the other, like a curtsy.
  3. Bend both knees to lower until the front thigh is close to parallel with the floor.
  4. Push through the front foot to stand back up, then alternate sides.

Coaching cues

  • Keep your hips facing forward instead of twisting toward the stepping leg.
  • Keep the front knee tracking over the toes rather than caving inward.
