How to do it

  1. Stand under a solid door frame and reach up to grip the top edge with both hands.
  2. Stand tall with your ribs down, your core braced and your feet flat on the floor.
  3. Pull down hard on the frame as if you were starting a pull-up, keeping your feet on the ground.
  4. Hold the tension for the set time, breathing steadily, then release slowly.

Coaching cues

  • Only use a solid frame, and keep your feet planted rather than hanging your weight on it.
  • Bend your knees slightly to increase the pull, straighten them to ease off.
