How to do it

  1. Stand tall with a dumbbell in each hand resting in front of your thighs, palms facing you.
  2. Keep a slight bend in your elbows and brace your core.
  3. Raise one or both arms forward until your hands reach shoulder height.
  4. Lower under control back to your thighs without leaning back.

Coaching cues

  • Stop at shoulder height, going higher just shifts the work to your traps.
  • Squeeze your glutes so your body does not rock to help the weight up.
