How to do it

  1. Hinge forward at the hips with a flat back, supporting yourself on a bench or your front thigh.
  2. Hold a dumbbell with your upper arm tucked against your side and your elbow bent to 90 degrees.
  3. Straighten your elbow to drive the dumbbell back until your arm lines up with your torso.
  4. Lower under control back to 90 degrees, then finish the set and switch sides.

Coaching cues

  • Keep your upper arm still, if it drops the triceps stop doing the work.
  • Use a light weight and hold the squeeze for a beat at the top.
