Pull-up bar

How to do it

  1. Hang from a pull-up bar with an overhand grip and your shoulders pulled down slightly.
  2. Brace your core and keep your legs straight and together.
  3. Lift your legs until they are at least parallel to the floor, curling your hips up at the top.
  4. Lower slowly under control without swinging into the next rep.

Coaching cues

  • Bend your knees slightly if you cannot control straight legs yet.
  • Slow lowering is where the strength is built, so resist the drop.
