How to do it
- Set an adjustable bench to about 30 degrees and sit back with a dumbbell in each hand.
- Bring the dumbbells to shoulder height with your palms facing forward.
- Press up and slightly back until your arms are straight over your upper chest.
- Lower under control until your upper arms are level with your torso.
Coaching cues
- Keep the incline shallow, around 30 degrees, so your shoulders do not take over the lift.
- Keep your shoulder blades pulled back and down against the bench.
