How to do it

  1. Place your hands slightly wider than your shoulders on a sturdy counter, table or step.
  2. Walk your feet back until your body is one straight line from heels to head.
  3. Lower your chest to the edge with your elbows tracking about 45 degrees from your ribs.
  4. Press back to straight arms without shrugging your shoulders toward your ears.

Coaching cues

  • The lower the surface, the harder it gets, so drop one step at a time as you get stronger.
  • Keep your neck long and look at the surface rather than up at the ceiling.
