How to do it

  1. Lie on your back with your legs straight and your hands under your hips or at your sides.
  2. Press your lower back into the floor and keep it there throughout.
  3. Lift both legs to about 90 degrees, keeping them straight but not locked.
  4. Lower slowly until they hover just above the floor, then repeat.

Coaching cues

  • Bend your knees to shorten the lever if your back lifts off the floor.
  • Stop lowering at the point where you can still keep your back flat.
