How to do it

  1. Sit on the floor with your knees bent and heels down, holding a medicine ball at your chest.
  2. Lean back to about 45 degrees with a flat back and lift your chest.
  3. Rotate your ribs and shoulders to move the ball toward one hip and tap it down beside you.
  4. Rotate smoothly to the other side and keep alternating for the set.

Coaching cues

  • Turn your shoulders and ribs, not just your arms.
  • Keep your back flat, if it rounds sit more upright or use a lighter ball.
