How to do it

  1. Step one foot forward into a long lunge with your hands on the floor inside the front foot.
  2. Drop your back knee toward the floor and let your hips sink to open the front of the back leg.
  3. Place your inside forearm toward the floor for a second, then rotate and reach that arm to the ceiling.
  4. Return your hand to the floor, step back and repeat on the other side.

Coaching cues

  • Move slowly and breathe out as you reach into each position.
  • Rest your back knee on the floor to make the position more comfortable.
